Europees onderzoek naar regiocodering en prijsnveau van DVD's

"The European Commission is to launch an investigation into the high price paid for DVDs by European consumers.
Mario Monti, the EU's competition commissioner has written to Hollywood film companies asking about DVD pricing policies.

DVDs bought in America are cheaper than those available on this side of the Atlantic, but will not necessarily work on European DVD players.

The news comes after the EU launched a similar inquiry into alleged unfair pricing in the Compact Disc (CD) market in February.

It also coincides with European Competition Day - a day designed to highlight the benefits of competition and the role played by the European Commission."
